Tech-savvy, 21st century Muslims now have an easy way to remember their daily prayer schedule. Dr. Reza Aslan (whose blog I follow at www.rezaaslan.com) just launched a new mobile app called MeccaLocator. Designed to be used on a iPhone or iPod Touch, MeccaLocator has a built in prayer alarm, which will remind devout Muslims of the five times each day when they are called to prayer, as well as a GPS compass, which enables a person to easily determine the direction of Mecca (the direction in which salaat / Islamic ritual prayer is offered). Below you will find a video filled with some beautiful images, not to mention a wonderful recording of the adhan (call to prayer) itself. If you or your friends use this new app let me know what you think.
