I first published this blog entry last October, but decided it warranted a repost in light of a story that ran this morning on North Carolina Public Radio - WUNC (91.5). The interview with Frank Stasio, host of The State of Things, describes the use of Vipassana meditation as a part of a 10-day treatment program in Alabama's Department of Corrections (yes, the same Vipassana meditation we examined thru our case study on "Doing Time, Doing Vipassna" in India's Tihar prison). Click here to give a listen to the WUNC story and then consider heading to Duke University tonight for the screening of "The Dhamma Brothers."

Next week in REL 108 we'll be discussing Buddhist meditation practices. Here's a recent article that corresponds to our film "Doing Time, Doing Vipassana," which briefly examines the proliferation of meditation programs in U.S. prisons.
